The 6-week Baby Sign Language course is run as a playgroup for parents and their babies/toddlers with a balance of structured activities and free play, so everyone can learn in a safe and fun way.
Each week new signs are presented with activities and resources selected to provide you with an opportunity to practice signing with your baby, as well as strategies for using baby sign language at home.
Week 1 - Routine Signs | Week 2 - Animals
Week 3 - Foods | Week 4 - Emotions
Week 5 - Transport | Week 6 - Colours
These baby sign language classes are designed with a mix of both structured activities and free-play so that you can engage with your baby to support them in achieving their key baby milestones for language and communication, have fun and start building your community.
As a qualified special education teacher (Teacher of the Deaf) I am trained in providing children with language and literacy interventions.
I can provide private one-on-one baby sign language and communication intervention sessions to support your child's language development. Coming from an early childhood background, I utilise a range of play-based strategies to engage and support your child's language development in a way that is accessible to them, and provide you with the skills needed to support their language learning outside sessions.
Baby sign language classes and intervention sessions are designed to support spoken language development and can help any child who is pre- or non-verbal develop functional communication quickly.
I have personally taught a wide range of children sign language, including those with:
Hearing loss, Autism, Down Syndrome, global developmental delay, selective mutism, and speech and language delays.
Programs are individually developed for your child in consultation with you and an understanding of your unique needs and goals.
Need help with your NDIS application? Please get in touch and I can write a support letter to apply for funding for baby sign language intervention.
Support is also available for early childhood education and care services that have children with additional needs.
