Using baby sign language with your child (no matter their hearing status) has been shown to support their language development as well as other areas of learning and development. For more information on the benefits of baby sign have a look at the Baby Sign Blog.
No, I am not teaching Auslan. I am teaching parents and their children how to use signs and gestures to communicate and boost overall language development (which flows onto literacy and many other areas of learning).
I have a whole blog post about this! But generally I recommend starting around 3 months old. Those first few months are intense, don't add additional pressure to being a new parent. Starting at this time will also give you the chance to create the habit of signing with your baby, so when the time is right for them, they will have the signs there for the taking!
Orders for posters and other Auslan resources are generally dispatched within 2 business days. You will receive email notification when your order has been fulfilled. Orders are shipped via AusPost Parcel Post, and delivery times are in line with their capacity (their website says "2+ days Australia Wide"). If you haven't received your order within 10 days of dispatch, please email learn@babysign.com.au and we will check the status.
Absolutely yes! While my classes are NOT Auslan (Australian Sign Language) courses, the signs are transferable. I am also a qualified Teacher of the Deaf, so I will be able to support you and your baby to develop early language foundations and overcome some of the hurdles that may present for children with hearing loss.
The playgroup courses are designed for families with babies under 18 months old of all abilities. Signing with older, non-verbal or non-speaking children has many benefits. The online course might be a good option for you. I also offer private, in-home sign intervention sessions. This may be a good fit too for older children, and they can be funded under the NDIS.
Absolutely. Baby signing is for everyone. In fact, the main purpose of the baby sign course offered here is to support your baby's spoken language development. Throughout the course you will learn lots of information
Yes. Absolutely. I can provide you with an invoice to claim back through the NDIS.
As a trained Special Education Teacher, I have the skills needed to support you and your child to develop functional communication, however that may look for your child.
I can also work with you and your case manager to provide the necessary documentation to apply for funding around learning sign language.

We offer a wide range of courses for different circumstances, including professional development for child care and early learning services, playgroup courses for families, online courses for those further away, and private NDIS sessions for families needing specialised support.
Each solution has a different price. Please check individual courses for price details.
If you need to miss a couple of classes for the playgroup course, fear not. You can get access to those weeks online. That way you don't miss out on any of the critical information and can stay up with you sign language practice.
Other than the obvious - one is in-person and the other is online. There is no difference. The content presented in both is the same.
